Auxo Workshop vs Workshop Software
Workshop Software is based in New South Wales. It says more than 9,400 people use it, across workshops for cars, trucks, boats, caravans and farm machinery. Auxo Workshop is our cloud platform, built only for automotive workshops in New Zealand and Australia. It's backed by 25+ years of making software for mechanics and owned by the Motor Trade Association (MTA).
Both are solid systems. The biggest difference is how they're packaged. Workshop Software spreads its features across three plans and sells some extras on top. On Auxo Workshop Pro you get our full feature set in one plan, and you pay for texts and WOF checks as you use them.
We checked Workshop Software's website on 20 October 2026. If anything's out of date, tell us and we'll fix it.
You're a Kiwi workshop
We bill in NZ dollars and connect to BNT. Workshop Software bills in AUD and doesn't list BNT.
You want customers to text back
Two-way texting is built in at 10c a text. On Workshop Software it's A$49 a month.
You need repair times or multisite
Workshop Software has both. We don't offer either yet.
Everything on Pro, nothing bolted on
On Workshop Software, your plan decides what you get. Silver covers jobs, bookings and invoicing. Inspections with photos, the price matrix, split invoicing, loan cars, business intelligence and the full phone app start at Gold. Multisite sits on Platinum. Help importing your data costs extra on Silver and Gold, and two-way texting is a separate add-on.
On Auxo Workshop Pro, everything we offer sits in one plan: the price matrix, low-margin alerts, technician performance reports, live clocking against the estimate, and every Elite feature while Elite is on its way. Moving your data across is free.
If you're in New Zealand, the small things add up. Workshop Software's NZ rego lookups are 59c each, prepaid, and WOF due dates are entered by hand. On Auxo Workshop, lookups are 20c and WOF due dates are built in, ready for the new WOF intervals that start on 1 November 2026. SmartCheck Pro also adds electronic WOF check sheets, with direct submission to NZTA coming soon.
Side by side, plan by plan
Both have iOS and Android apps (Workshop Software's full app is on Gold and above). Prices exclude GST. Workshop Software details are from workshopsoftware.com, checked 20 October 2026.
Where Workshop Software has the jump on us
Repair times in the job
Their WorkshopData add-on brings in repair times, service schedules and wiring info.
Multisite and franchise reporting
Available on their Platinum plan.
MYOB and QuickBooks
Both connect on every plan, as well as Xero.
Pricing, like for like
Workshop Software prices each plan for one user, with extra users at A$20. Billed monthly, Silver is A$119, Gold is A$149 and Platinum is A$249, all + GST. Pay yearly and those drop to A$99, A$119 and A$199 a month. Auxo Workshop is $99 + GST for 2 users on Essentials and $199 + GST for 5 users on Pro. Extra users are $19, and you're billed in your own currency.
Take a five-person team. On Gold, billed monthly, that's A$229 a month, or A$278 with two-way texting. On yearly billing it's A$199, or A$248 with texting. Auxo Workshop Pro is $199 for five users, with two-way texting built in at 10c a text.
So if you pay yearly and don't need two-way texting, Gold and Pro cost about the same, and it comes down to which features matter more to your workshop. Our price matrix and low-margin alerts are Pro features, so compare Gold with Pro rather than Essentials.
Common questions
Can I move from Workshop Software to Auxo Workshop?
Yes. We'll move your data across for free, and there's no contract.
Do you have repair times like WorkshopData?
Not at the moment. If repair times inside the job card are essential for you, it's worth knowing that before you switch.
I'm in Australia. Does Auxo Workshop work there?
Yes. It's priced in Australian dollars, connects to Burson EzyParts and Repco Nav Pro, and does Australian rego lookups. Roadworthy certificates aren't built in yet, but they're on our roadmap.
How did you check Workshop Software's details?
Everything about Workshop Software on this page comes from their own website and help centre, checked on 20 October 2026. If anything's changed, let us know and we'll update it.
